Easter Weekend

We started the weekend by attending the Stations of the Cross service at our church for Good Friday. It was a very traditional and contemplative practice. Interesting.

We did lots of fun things this weekend. We all played in a tennis tournament on Saturday for our friend, Darren's, birthday. Here are a few pics of Abi trying to stay cool:

We spent Easter at our home church (Sojourner's Community) with the Thue family and then had lunch back at our place and enjoyed some family time out on the patio:

Knack for music

Abi loves her music. Here, she's taking after Uncle Eric with her gift on instruments. You should see her dance!!

We're on a Roll!

It's been a long time coming... the big roll. She just started last weekend. We're working on mastering the art. Lots of fun!

30 year of the Happiest Place

So, we'll just say I've been going for 30 years even though we all know I wasn't there on the day I was born. Disneyland. The place you dream of taking your kids someday.
I'd have to say that Abi didn't seem to notice that this day was any different than any other day. Yet, when has she seen small dancing and singing people from every nation, birds singing with tiki statues, pirates blowing each other to smithereens and the back side of a waterfall? You'd think she'd be pretty interested in all these extraordinary happenings, but we forget that every day holds new surprises for babies. So, first trip to Disneyland? Just another day!
For me, however, life was (as my friend Andrea would say) bunnies and marshmallows. Spent the day at the park with lots of good friends and family, went on the favorites, met up with more friends for dinner, was serenaded by a grammy-award winning mariachi band, danced, and ended it all on the best ride ever... Space Mountain. All in all, I'd say the best birthday ever. Thanks everyone, and I am looking forward to when Abi recognizes it for what it really is... magical!

Naked Fun

Last week Abs and I visited great Grandma Mack. It's always cute to see Grandma because she loves showing Abi off to all her friends (or "brothers and sisters" as she calls them) at her senior apartments. They make all the seemingly silly comments like "be sure you feed this one--she's wasting away" or "she must be storing up for the winter". Grandma took us out to lunch for my birthday and Abi got into one of those moods where she was fussy unless I was walking around the restaurant with her-- this girl likes to be on the move! We finally had to just leave the restaurant and go back to the apartment. Once I started changing her diaper, I realized that Abs was much happier without her clothes on and the three of us played on the floor in glee (luckily Grandma was understanding about the tattoo). She just kept babbling and laughing and I think Grandma and I could have sat there with her and giggled for hours.

Beym Initiation

We left Abigail at a friend's house on the evening of Valentine's Day so that we could have some time alone for a nice evening out. Our "friends" have three young girls: Isabella, Olivia, and Penelope. Apparently, that evening the kids were getting rub on tattoos and didn't want to leave Abi out of the fun. This is what our daughter had to show us once we got her home. Thanks Beym Family!!
